Rural Virginia Churches Mark Four Months of Revival Meetings
Three pastors are exchanging pulpits to continue stewarding what is being called the Winchester Outpouring.

Rural Virginia Churches Mark Four Months of Revival Meetings
[09.04.08] In a mostly rural Virginia community west of Washington, D.C., Christian leaders who banded together this summer to bring revival to their region say they are witnessing miracles, including unusual manifestations such as feathers and gold fillings.

“It’s funny how it all began; I guess you could say it’s been sovereign,” said Lee Prock, the 45-year-old senior pastor of Agape Christian Church in Stephens City, Va., just south of Winchester, Va. “With the churches that are now involved, we just want to see our city changed and transformed.”

I pray this is a genuine "Revival"; and of course a genuine revival can only follow genuine repentance and a Godly lifestyle.

Thanks

Prock said the outpouring began in earnest in April, after the Kaylors visited the Lakeland, Fla., meetings led by revivalist Todd Bentley. “[The Kaylors] had some signs and wonders happen in their meetings, but I think they got some good fresh fire and a fresh impartation during their time [in Lakeland],” said Prock, who traveled twice this summer to Bentley’s meetings.

Enough said. Regarding their signs and wonders, gold fillings are indicative of what? That their God can't heal a tooth properly?

Changed/transformed into what? The circus that was Lakeland/Pensecola/Toronto? Or, the Wales revival where houses of ill repute and bars shut down for lack of business? Where miner's mules stopped workinh because the only commands they knew where curse words?

If every church prayed and sought God's justice we would look a lot more like the bride of Christ. Agree?

If you would like to read the source of Winchester's revival, then you should check out the Todd Bentley thread. There you will find the heretical doctrines, the violent physical attacks on people by Bentley, and the outright occult activity it was steeped in. This is the impartation Prock is referring to. We don't need to sit back and wait to see that feathers and gold fillings are false [and therefore dangerous] 'miracles'. The fact that false signs are following them should be a big clue as to the nature of this 'revival'.

Regarding transformation, the Church doesn't have to just pray then sit back and wait for some sort of wonder to occur. The Church is told to preach the gospel in season and out. That is God's method of calling people to Himself.

I assume the worst because they credit the Counterfeit Revival of Lakeland as the root of theirs.

Go to their web site, the same pixie dust, gold fillings, and angel feathers. Why they don't want to emulate the Welsh Revival I mentioned in my previous post is beyond me.

emerging: God can work through very odd vessels and bring about transformation in ways that look out of place to us.

What does false teaching, false prophecy, false signs and wonders, physically and violently attacking people in the name of healing, and promoting occult practices and demonic visions have to do with 'looking out of place'? All of these things is what Lakeland was about, and they have nothing to do with following God's word. God doesn't tell us to follow 'odd vessels' and exciting experiences when they so blatantly contradict His word.

Matthew 7:15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

Since Prock credits Bentley's impartation for their new 'revival' and is clearly in league with these things, they are no better than Bentley. There is no way to support Bentley AND support the Bible at the same time. One must make a choice between the two.

2 Thess 2:7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

I couldn't agree more. What does gold fillings prove? What spiritual significance is there?

When we see the bad fruit we tell Christians to stay away. When we see the good fruit we point them in that direction.

Do you look for good spiritual fruit from occult meetings? Or Mormon meetings?

emerging,

You know nothing of Lakeland it seems, which is half the problem with many self-professing Christians today. It was a Counterfeit Revival lead by false prophets and false teachers - their claims, practices and teachings did not stand the test of Scripture. So it is not matter of interpretation or subjectivism.

We are (ALL) called to test all things in light of Scripture and sound the alarm to those that make merchandise of men.

I know enough of Lakeland to know that it is not the way I would go about sharing the good news. However, I recognize the power of God to speak even through a donkey - or even an errant pastor or church. My point is only this: Rather than ripping the tares from the ground and placing ourselves in the seat of judgment (something Jesus forbids) we would be serving the Kingdom far better by loving even those we disagree with theologically and praying that God transform lives and our world despite our barbaric efforts.

Why do you say that not knowing about Lakeland is "half the problem" of "self-professing" Christians today? I can think of many other problems far weightier and of far more import than a person's knowledge of Lakeland.

peace.

Exposing error is the most loving thing you can do for the church. Many are ignorant of what scripture says and when someone tells them that a person crawling around on hands/knees and making animal sounds is a move of God, it is our responsibility to say this is not so. When people claim to be prophets and are not right 100% of the time, it is our responsibility to tell people seeking such a one that he/she is no prophet.

It's not a matter of disagreeing theologically like full immersion baptism or sprinkling. When you teach people that an angel named Emma appeared to you to teach you the prophetic that is something else.

Exposing error is the most loving thing you and I can do?
I would think giving someone a cup of water, a plate of food, a shirt off my back, a roof over their head would all qualify as far more loving than "exposing error."

Note that earthless said "...for the church" - ie, the body of Christ as a whole, not individuals. I agree with you that there are things that would be more loving for an individual. And I don't know if I would say myself that exposing error is "the most loving thing" - but it can be, depending on the situation, ONE of the most loving things, IMO. When needed. Which, it really is these days.

I am a spouse and a parent, and sometimes the most loving thing I can do for a loved one is not the most warm and fuzzy feeling thing.
