Okay, so us girls who are kind of tomboys, do guys like that or not so much? I for one love to

go 4-wheeling, hunting, and shoot archery! Pretty much, I don't mind getting dirty and trying

my best to show you anything you can do, I can do too! (I think this comes from being around

guys so much growing up, all my cousins and friends were guys until I turned 12, and even now

I still have just as many guy friends as I do girl friends.) I am really big into sports, Volleyball,

beach or court has to be my favorite! And I can't play it very well, but I love basketball too! I

love watching football, (Packers and New York Giants RULE! BIG TIME!) bull riding, bmx, and a

lot of other stuff considered more guyish! I also love to go to Christian Rock Concerts and

listening to louder christian music! (there will never be a better Christian grunge/punk band than

Kids In The Way was!) Don't get me wrong, I can still act like a girl, in fact sometimes I am

really girly, like on Sundays, I ALWAYS dress-up! My question is though, is it a turn off to guys

if the girl is a tomboy? Can this be a reason for only being her "buddy" and not wanting to be

her "boyfriend"? Just something I have really been pondering here lately...

First of all if you are a Relient K fan than you are obviously a good girl! 2ndly, I live in southwest Florida, this must be the southern capital of the Tomboy! There are always women and girls out here riding four wheelers and getting dirty, what most may call "rednecks" I don't know that this word applies to you but one of the most compelling things is that most of the girls/women I see riding four wheelers out here by my house and getting dirty are in deed doing so with some guy riding with them. I guess it is a matter of what you are looking for in a man. If you are looking for a Starbucks limo-liberal, you probably aren't going to attract him (think Obama) if you are looking for a good ol' country boy, my bet is that yeah, you'll not be lonely for long!

Yeah, no limo-liberals for this girl!! I was thinking more along the lines of a mix between a good

ol' country boy and a band boy! (Christian Rock band that is!LOL!!)

not a turnoff. and i think if one is really outgoing they are more likely to have lots of "buddies" of both sexes rather than just one or two close same sex friends. you seem like you have lots of friends, are you physically attracted to and wanting to date all of them?

p.s. did you ever read relient k's dating book?

LOL!! No, I do not want to date all of my friends, there are some I want to choke

sometimes...but that's a whole other story! There are two of my guy friends who like me, I kind

of used to like the one, not so much now. And the other one, yeah, not on this planet!! I will

say all of my guy friends are cute though and I am constantly picking out who I think they would

look cute with, it makes them so mad sometimes! I am only really attracted to one of my

friends and I believe I would totally die if he asked me out , (sure you can guess which one) but

I honestly don't think he has a clue that I have it so bad for him. Okay, maybe he does

considering I am normally chattering non-stop and I always seem to have mental brain freeze

around him! But, no I''m not normally attracted to my guy friends, I just seem to hit it off better

with guys than girls, not sure why, I'm just that way! Not that I wouldn't be friends with girls,

they just never seem to like me, and I never have figured out why? Oh, well!

And no, haven't read relient k's dating book, didn't know they had one! But, I have read a ton

of other people's! My mom said I am the sole reason the the Bible Bookstore that is about 45

minutes from our house keeps having money to add on! LOL! (It's a bookstore\ coffee shop\

skateboarding\ music store type place, it's super stellar!)

The only problem I'd have with it is that you are too young for me. I'd think that any guy who wants to get out and play would love to have his girlfriend/wife come out and play with him.

Especially if she is a Packer fan!!

Seriously though I've always preferred the somewhat tom boyish girl to the princess "Don't mess up my hair or makeup" types

Packers ROCK!! And the princess "Don't mess up my hair and makeup" types are also called

cheerleaders... yeah, I can't get along with cheerleaders! I'm sure there could be an exception,

just haven't found it yet! LOL!!

It depends on the guy. Being into sports would be a turnoff to me because I am not a sports fan by any stetch. That would exclude the hunting and fishing - used to love to do those, camping and hiking too.

Into agressive music? Great! as long as you do not limit yourself as to style. Can you appreciate the power chords of heavy metal and turn around get the same thrill from a thundering pipe organ piece by Bach? Can you enjoy the improvization of a seasoned jazz sax player and also the virtuosity of a classical violinist?

Oh - if you can work on a car engine - GREAT!!!

Well, he does have to like sports, not be a jock though, they are normally(the ones I've met) so

stuck on themselves and annoying! And I love to hunt, so that is kind of a must too, I hate

fishing though, so it's cool if the guy doesn't like to do that! I do like all kinds of agressive

music, and I love saxaphone players, one of my guy friends plays one and wow! It is so

AWESOME!! (He played in his jazz band at high school and he is really good!) Can't work on a

car engine, although I will make him lemonade and hold the guy's tools for him while he works

on it! LOL!

The problem with wanting to be like a guy is that soon the guys will treat you just like another guy. If women sart acting like men, would you like it if they started acting like women?

I once heard a girl complaining that the boys didn't treat her with any respect and I had to tell her it was not becasue she was a girl but becasue they really were treating her as they would any other boy because she was trying to be a tomboy.

You can't have it both ways! To be a boy, you really have to work hard to get respect from other boys. If you make excuses, by saying you are a woman, that is no excuse, for if you want to play their game you have to play by their rules.

Personally, I value the softer more loving side of the female character and after spending so much time in the company of men a real woman is a breath of fresh air and a sight for sore eyes.

I see where you are coming from, but do you also agree that girl's can't do more guyish sports

because they are for "guys"? I am still always going to act like a girl, I wouldn't have made a

good boy anyway, I'm too tender-hearted to be one! LOL! Do you really think it is wrong for a

girl to like to hunt and do more guyish things?

no i do not agree. is karate a guy sport? i think it's great for building confidence in young girls or

women and even has purpose like self-defense. is baseball a guy sport? well at the pro level it

really is. girls play softball which is what baseball but with a bigger ball and underhanded

pitching? is it now a guy sport or girl sport? how about field hockey, you've got to be pretty tough

to play that. i think it's going to vary to the guy. i believe all people have different emotional

needs and many men value recreational companionship very high so i don't see anything you

say ruling you incompatible.

I know of very few sports that a girl couldn't do. Tackle football comes to mind. Not much more.

A very sweet, very cute girl I know (the Girl's friend's older sister) likes to hunt (deer, turkey, you name it, she'll shoot it!). Well her boyfriend said that she can't hunt that's a guy sport. So she asked him "Why don't you hunt?" End of discussion.

A woman who can hunt and fish and enjoy the outdoors is a pearl of great price.

That's one smart girl! Hunting has got to be the best adrenaline rush in the world!

And I think Singing Boy agrees with you that a woman who can hunt and enjoy the outdoors is a

pearl of great price, because the guys were talking about rifle season starting here in a few

weeks and I piped in that I couldn't wait and he smiled and was like so you hunt too, that is

awesome! I only have to please the guy God has planned for me to spend my life with so, I

know God will send one who doesn't mind me hunting and better yet, will hunt with me!

I think it all depends on the guy. I am sure there are plenty of guys out there looking for someone like you.

But I know what you mean. I certainly hope there are planty of gals out there who like your opposite. I am kinda a sensitive, timid, guy who works with woman (elementary teacher) and is called a woman sometimes by my guy friends. I wonder if there is a market for that out there.

Doesnt pose a problem for me. I would see it as one facet of who she is and, depending on the other parts of her person, would find it a definite plus. Now, as a guy whos idea of "roughing it" is having a bran muffin, I think I am on the other side of the spectrum from the rugged outdoors type. If we had alot of other things in common then I dont think it would pose a problem.

LOL! No, I am more drawn to the musically inclined guys, my current crush sings in our church's

choir, but is also an avid sports fan and enjoys hunting/being outside. I just have had people

comment that me being such a tomboy is a little "WEIRD", but I am a very different person in

general! LOL!

LOL! Most of my friends that fit into the category of softer and more feminine girls don't even

know how to HOLD a football and THROW it, let alone play a game of football! I can be quiet

and feminine, as long as I am at church, in fact, my mom refers to me as a girly-tomboy,

whatever that is supposed to mean! But, if there is something going on that looks like fun, I'm

not shy to get in there and get a little mud on my face, literally!
