I hope this is the right forum...

Just curious if anyone here subscribes to sky angel and what you think of it. I have been without TV service for three years, but for the last year or so I've been contemplating signing up for Sky Angel.

We have it. It's okay, no local channels and you need a high speed internet connection. We have DSL and it seems to work fine for the most part. Every so often we get a buffering thing, but it usually picks up pretty fast. God TV is pretty neat, other than that I usually just watch Discovery or NFL network.

thanks for the response! I was just about to give up on this thread LOL

I have two kids one is 14 and the other is 5. From what I could tell it looked like there would be some OK channels for them. I've been three years without TV at all so I'm sure at this point they will take what they can get!

Discovery and History channels are some of my favorites and I noticed that they show reruns of some of the older TV series that Nick at Nite showed when I was a teenager (loved them then).

Luckily I live well within DSL range. Does it interfere with your internet connection terribly? What speed DSL do you have?

We had it for about 5 years. I got a lifetime subscription back in 2002 and never had to pay again.

When they dumped the satellite, we didn't make the move to broadband. Not worth paying for. We hardly watched it anyway

It had a few good programs and channels, but I got fed up with non-stop barrage of "pulpit pimps" spreading their false doctrine 24/7. Keep your kids away from TBN

If you are even considering satellite as an alternative you might want to look at DishTV and DirectTV. They both have family packages that focus on family, educational, and religious channels.

DishTV's family package is $19.95/mo and includes more channels than DirectTV - including FoxNews and CNN Headline news. DirectTV's family package for $29.95/mo - the only news channel is Bloomberg.

I don't know which is better as far as other features - HD channels, etc.

I will check into this as well, thanks!

It does at times interfere with the internet. I try not to watch TV and surf the net at the same time. This is sad, I don't know my DSL speed other than to say it is the minimum requirement to support sky angel. I can tell you based on Verizon's pricing. The cheapest verizon offers I believe is I think 762 KBPS for 19.99 per month, I have the next package up whatever that is.

LOL! TBN is on a UHF station in my area, so it's unavoidable. The Way of the Master makes me laugh sometimes. Here's the formula.
"Hey aren't you that kid from Growing Pains?"
"Yeah that was me. Did you know you're going to Hell?"
"Why I oughtta......"
