First of all, Skirk55, let me jump up and down with joy that God saved you! Wow! He has given you eternal life and made you His son forever (and as sons we inherit all that God has - pretty wild, isn't it?!). He will give you power to do what's right, and will take you to live with Him forever in Heaven. He pulled you out of the storm and made you part of His family and gave you good things that you couldn't do. And, hey, anyone who could make Yosemite and chocolate is going to be awesome to live with! Secondly, I am delighted you have an older Christian to work with you - that's great! You will grow so fast, discover God's promises sooner, and will avoid some of the problems that can happen. Yay! I'm glad you've got an answer ready for the next person who asks why you are the way you are. That's good to do. Tell them what you used to be like, tell them how you began to believe (in a way they can do, too) and tell them what you are like now so they can see the difference. Jesus saved me from the storm, too. I used to be a DIY person who didn't need God because *I* could make my life better (insert prideful attitude here). Ha! It took me years to realize I couldn't do a thing, and my life was just spiralling down out of control. My roommate told me that I was a sinner. Ha! I'd never robbed a bank or killed anyone, so I didn't believe her. But I finally realized I couldn't make my life better but I was a bad person, and Jesus was the only way offered to me for a better life. So one morning I prayed for the first time, "Lord, please take my life and forgive my sin. You can be the Boss now." Within six months, my life was totally different. I'd quit swearing (that I couldn't quit before, no matter how hard I tried) and started living a moral life. I changed in a lot of ways. And God did it. I'm not perfect, but every year more of my life comes under His gracious lordship, and the bad things go away. I won't be perfect until I get to heaven, but things are improving and I love my life, my Lord, and my family (I have the first stable marriage and first non-abused child in at least 4 generations of my family. God's grace all the way!). God bless you, Skirk55. Keep reading your Bible, praying and being led by older Christians. Every day keep getting rid of any sin you discover, and thank Him for forgiving you. The best is yet to come! BTW, did you know Kirk is the Scottish word for church?
