This is not about the CONTENT of Palin's first interview. It is about how a network chooses to light, frame and edit the footage that they take. I didn't see the full interview as yet. But, just from the excerps I've spotted some troubling things about the PRODUCTION choices that unfairly present Palin before she said the very first word. Just from the differences in the footage shown on NightLine and the presented footage in the first segment, we know for sure that it was heavily edited to make it look like she was speaking in shallow scripted soundbites. That fact, alone, is troubling. The angles of the cameras and the lighting are also troubling for me. I will have to watch the next segment as aired to confirm that it was either poorly lighted or intentionally lighted to give the whole segment a darker tone. Today's video cameras don't require a lot of light as they did on the old days. So, it's puzzing that the whole thing looked so dark. There is always a question as to how many cameras were used and whether or not the cameras were switched live or all of the camera angles where selected in an edit suite. There are camera angles that are flattering and camera angles that could make a cherub look like a demon. All-in-all, I found the PRODUCTION choices to be very odd if one is truly interested in a nuetral presentation of an interview.
