quote:
Sarah Palin takes a swipe at Barack Obama for his ties to Bill Ayers, founder of a 1960s radical group. Sarah Palin, using some of her strongest language to date to question the character of the Democratic presidential nominee, accused Barack Obama on Saturday of "palling around with terrorists." Palin, speaking at a closed fundraiser in Colorado, was referencing Obama's ties to Bill Ayers, a founder of the 1960s radical group The Weather Underground. That relationship was examined in a front-page article in The New York Times Saturday. "Our opponent, though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect -- imperfect enough that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country," Palin said. "Americans need to know this. ... I think, okay we gotta get the word out. This is in fairness to the electorate we gotta start telling people what the other side represents." --- Ayers' group took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol four decades ago. Ayers is a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He and Obama live in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood and served together on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based charity that develops community groups to help the poor. Obama left the board in December 2002, and has denounced Ayers' past activities. Fox LINK I'm sure some don't care about this because nothing the Black Messiah can do is wrong, but I'm glad she came out and stated this. Want to know what Barack's "community activism" was? Did you know it included ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), a shake-down group that would have received 20% of the profits from the original $700 Billion bailout plan! Obama's ACORN LINK Did you know that Barack tried to hide his donation of $800,000 to ACORN? quote:
Obama to amend report on $800,000 in spending U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the Democrat's campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports. An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in "get-out-the-vote" projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary. Barack donates to ACORN LINK

It's about time this matter is discussed.

So 8-year old Obama was palling around with Bill Ayers in the 60's? If Bill Ayers is a terrorist, why is he not in qitmo instead of a college professor? Why is the Bush administration allowing a known terrorist to roam free? WOW! Despite my misgivings over her qualifications to be VP (and President if she ever needed to step in), I did not question her Christianity until now. Just proves my point that you cannot be a Christian AND a politician. It's said to see her compromise her values to win an election.

It's about time this matter is discussed. About time? Sean Hannity beat this Ayres, guilt-by-association story into the ground last spring. And the fact that Palin and McCain are trying to revive it just shows how desperate their campaign is feeling 30 days out from Election Day. But unfortunately for them, this brand of politics (which McCain once openly rejected) is only going to resonate with the GOP base, and probably repel undecideds to Obama.

That makes you question her Christianity? That's rich!! First, you have no place or right to question anyone's Christianity. Second, if all the insane things Obama has said and done and voted for haven't made you question his, you're confused. I'm glad to hear someone's calling him on this. But it get any traction. It's not like the mainstream media will pick it up - Hannity may think he's all that but he's not so much. Unfortunately, the people who need a wake up call on this guy, probably aren't listening to Palin - either because they're too snowed by Obama or too clueless to be plugged in either way.

ORIGINAL: Evangel70 quote:
Are you really so filled with hatred that your eyes actually read that anywhere? That, obviously, was never stated nor implied by anyone anywhere. It certainly doesn't make your case any better to show the world your hatred and then hide behind the banner of Christianity. So anyone who doesn't worship at the feet of Sarah Palin must "hate" her? Has your hatred of anyone who doesn't support the McCain/Palin ticket so blinded you that you cannot see disagreement as anything other than "hatred"? According to the article above, this is what upsets Sarah so much... "Ayers now is a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He and Obama live in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood and served together on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based charity that develops community groups to help the poor. Obama left the board in December 2002, and he has denounced Ayers' past activities." So are you claiming that we should be upset about Obama serving ib a community group helping the poor? He obviously already denounced Ayers past activities and was 8 years old when Ayers was part of the underground movement. Should Obama be blamed because the legal system let Ayers led a normal life after doing his time? If Ayers is still a "terrorist" why doesn't homeland security put him behind bars. If hes' not a terrorist, why is it acceptable for Sarah Palin to lie about it and "hatred" to call her out on her misrepresentation? I stand by my claim that you cannot be a politician without compromising your Christian values. Do you believe Jesus would approve of everything Sarah has said and done as a representative of what the Christian faith is all about? Gee, I must have hit a nerve. My comments, as I think you well know, were directed at your lame attempt at humor. Clearly, no one at any time said the youthful, 8 year old Barry had any affiliation with the leader of the Weathermen, Bill Ayers. It is beyond absurd that you would even say that and then go on to defend what you said. It is a fact that he has admitted to being involved in several terrorist acts against the US government in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Why did he not serve time? Only because of some stupid prosecutorial errors by the FBI and others. That mistake does not, in any way, make the man innocent - and you know that. Now, as a Christian, I might be able to say I could forgive his past and admit that Obama's association was totally innocent... but the fact is that Ayers in not only unrepentant but has said in interviews that the size of the bomb planted at the Pentagon should have been bigger. Now, let me ask you sir, as a Christian, how can you excuse that? As far as the Woods Foundation is concerned, they appear to be more of a political group that finances "community oranizers" and influence public policy - perhaps for the stated benefit of the poor... but please don't try to make this look like the Salvation Army or Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity.

Well Obama was not eight when Ayers sponsered him tinto Chicago politics, there is nore to come on this so stay tuned. There is a whole history of bad associations that Obama has had (is having); a communinst mentor when he was in Hawaii, Socialist frineds, terrorist supporters and mentors, , roomates that were busted for dealing hard drugs in NY (where Obama forgot where he lived or who his friends were for over 3 years), radical religious mintor Wright for over 20 years who was preaching "Liberation theology"(read socialism, civil disobedience, and revolt), etc. etc. There is much about him that folks just do not know and probably will not because the main stream media will not vett him as they do everyone else. But if he gets elected, I am afraid that we will find out the psyche that all these communist, socialist, far left liberal, and and revolution theology has created in him. Thanks RC

Ayers was released because of a technicality, his wife served mafor time for the crimes they committed together. Ayers also said he wished he had dome more (bombings, terrorism) than he did right after 9/11. He would never had been taken to Gitmo because he is an American citizen. He and his wife were tried in the US court system. Thanks RC

They had to let him go because they did not read him his Miranda Rights ... he had confessed (along with all the evidence) and continues to talk about it because he knows the they cannot prosecute him because of that error.

I am no McCain fan, and am probably voting for Barr. Bit I won't vote for Obama because he will tax me too much. That being said, if McCain wants to have even a chance in November, his campaign is going to have to find some way of focusing on actual issues rather than trying to continually bring up stuff like this. Whether there's an element of truth to it or not, it's just not going to move most voters these days. Remember, you can dig up these sort of alliances for McCain, too.

First, I don't think you can find such undefensible alliances of McCain. Secondly, the vast majority of Obama supporters don't know or care about "issues". They have an irrational, emotional attachment to that man. Talking issues is pointless to those people. The only way to win over a small number of those people is to expose flaws in the man's character and hope that some may cahnge their minds.

It also seems to be a contagious disease that has infected certain supporters (not necessarily all supporters) of Sarah Palin.

Well since Sarah's my gal that's ok! And you may, and probably do, have logical reasons for supporting her. My point is, she also has some fans who will go to any extreme to justify or excuse failings on her part, just like the Obamamaniacs do (McCain and Biden are both too dull to have this problem). Such irrational support usually dissipates before election time.

Why is the Bush administration allowing a known terrorist to roam free? The first reason goes like this... Matthew 13:24-43 24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' 28 He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us then to go and gather them up?' 29 But he said, 'No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." ' " Folks have a hard time with the understandings that this country was founded on Biblical principals And the second quote:
Why is the Bush administration allowing a known terrorist to roam free? Unless I am mistaken… IMO...The Bush Admin has nothing to do with it...it is bound to when the "DEMs disbanded the right" common to their agenda.... for the CIA to properly track these individuals in the USA...so as not to hurt their feelings LG

Such irrational support usually dissipates before election time. I think you're right that much of the irrational support dissipates just before the election. The question then becomes how do you erode that irrational support of your opponent? I think both sides will continue to get uglier as the election draws near in the hope of eroding the irrational suport of their opponent. I think the mud which has already been slung at Palin has been rather petty - questioning her executive experience coming from a small (population) state and small town. The offensive personal attacks about her daughter and Sarah's new baby. While the current attacks against Obama is more substantive such as his associations with radicals. This may have an impact with some of his irrational supporters who actually think America is a good country. It also resonates with the conservative base who may otherwise sit out this election. Finally, I think many people realize that Obama is a Presidential candidate and Palin is a Vice-Presidential candidate. The concerns raised about the Presidential candidate will be looked at more closely than those against the VP.
