"My God shall supply all my needs according to HIS riches and glory, He will give His angels charge over me, Jehovah Jireh cares for me..." I was just thinking--this means He will supply everything that I physically need, but then it popped into my spirit that He will supply my needs emotionally and spiritually as well. There is something going on that He and I alone know about and this issue needs to be dealt with quickly for out of it flows all other issues of my life. This issue has caused me to put so many, many 'gods' before Him. And that is wrong. I need to start bowing to Him and only to Him. I can think of a few things I put before Him now--and that is sin, plain and simple. And you may say, why are you confessing this to us. The Word says to confess your sins one to another that you may be healed... So when will I cast down my 'idols' and learn that worshipping my Creator is my number one priority? I need to find my way back to my first love and I believe He is just a prayer away. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You shall love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength... Thou shall have NO other gods before Me... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Am I alone in this?

No you are not alone in this ... As our walk with the Lord becomes closer, we become more aware of idols and sins in our life, and it's a continual process throughout our lives (sanctification). He will bring you through trials you never thought you could make it through. At least not without Him. He will lift you out of the muck and ick ... Psalm 40:2 says is way better than I ever could: He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. And as He sets you upon that rock, you will beam with the joy of knowing He loves you.

I attended a shepherding congregation while in college and for several years after. It was in Michigan. While there were some serious problems, a lot of what they taught I held onto. One teaching from our senior pastor was on fighting sin. It was like this: (picture a blizzard, several feet of snow on the ground coming down fast.) It went something like this: Sin is like snow on your car. You can spend all day shoveling out your driveway, brushing off the hood, scraping your windows. That is a lot of work. And if you stay where you are, you will just get buried again. If on the other hand, you clean off your car and start driving south toward the sun; by the time you get to Florida, where is the snow? How much work is it to clean snow off your car down there? Everything just melts and falls off. Set your sights on the SON and keep moving toward HIM and those sins will also melt off and fall away. Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

DaveW, I like that analogy. I had a dream like that once...Hmmm And thanks you both for your comments. I know what is happening, and sometimes I just don't like it, but I guess that is how it is sometimes. I need to learn how to not resist the Potter...

If you feel anything hinders your walk with Him, get rid of it. Also pray about it, and He will show you what it is. Just a heads up, it may be harder to part with things than you may think. Just ask Him for the strength to do it. This advice I actually need to use for myself. But I hope it helps Nettiel.

I see idols as anything that comes between God and me. It can be watching television, or spending too much time on the computer, going out with friends too much. Basically, anything that hinders me from relating with God. It is something that He has brought to my attention, and He does so for a reason. Even if the programs I am watching are some form of ministry, like I used to watch Joyce Mayer, and Cornerstone Hour, and Joel Osteen, and Through the Bible everyday. These are good things to watch, but if they take my focus off of my relationship with Him, or letting them become a substitution for Him, then they are becoming an idol to me. He wants a relationship where He is involved, and where I am making time for Him. quote:

Popsi, your OP reminded me of a song by Sanctus Real. "Something Heavenly" To me, this song really hit the spot in what's been going on inside of me.
