Obama is rejoicing now. And, well he should.
But, at some point reality will set in that he has not one; but, MANY "Swords of Damocles" over his head in the coming days that may make for restless nights.
The first is that the original, typed Certificate of Live Birth issue will haunt him until it's finally produced. If he is hiding nothing then this will go away as soon as it sees the light of day.
But, that is not the only Sword of Damocles over his head right now.
Rarely has a president morphed himself so successfully to fit the immediate requirements to win an election. This means that Obama doesn't just have ONE group counting on him. He has at least four different constituencies to please.
The first constituency is made up of those who started him on his rise to power, the communists, radical left and radical greens. The New Party, Bill Ayers constituency. Will he disappoint them or please them?
Then there is the constituency of his party leadership in the Senate and the House. While they are nearly as radical in their socialist instincts, they aren't the type to blow up buildings. But, they COULD blow up at him if he doesn't please their lust for blood against the right. Will he dissappoint them or please them?
Of course, the most scary of the constituencies is epitomized by the lady that thinks Obama is going to help her pay for her gas and make her mortgage payment. This constituency simply doesn't understand the realities of the world. What happens when Obama fails to deliver? Will he dissappoint them or please them.
Finally, there are those who simply wanted a kinder, gentler political environment and could not believe that Obama was a radical as his actual record showed. The expect a moderate Obama. Will he dissappoint them or please them.
He cannot please them all. They are too diametrically apposed in their political goals and have completely different definitions for HOPE and CHANGE. You realize of course, that Obama never really defined these terms. He left it up to his constituencies to define it for themselves and THAT is the Sword of Damocles that will be hanging over his head for at least the next 4 years.
Which of his constituencies will be shunned and spurned? Which will be utterly dissappointed? Which will strike out at him for abandoning them. There is one thing that is certain. He CANNOT please them all.
I would actually feel sorry for the guy if I didn't know that he purposely put himself in this position by his own lust and greed for power.

I'm sure what you mean to say is:
"Lord, please guide the hand of Mr. Obama. You have said in your word that the heart of the king is in the hands of the Lord and I now ask you to show yourself faithful to perform Your Word if that be Your will. Please guide Mr. Obama in making wise choices in the coming days ahead. He faces many challenges and the decisions he makes will have an impact on many in the world. Because you care about all of Your children - Americans included - I ask that you guide our new leader in making wise choices that will bless Your children all over the world."
I'm just so positive of it that I just figured I would paraphrase you

If we remember that both good and bad, ultimately, are required for the Lord to accomplish his way in history. So what we should be praying is a lot more simple and less specific than what you prayed. "Lord, we will rest in Your Will. And while we lift up our leaders before you as you command, we know that you are sovereign no matter whether they choose to obey or rebel against you. We, your children, are in your hands whether we are lifted up or crushed by evil. And, we accept that life here on earth is so tempory and so insignificant in light of our being in your presence forever and ever."
You see, we already know that God's plan includes allowing evil to thrive for a while before it is done away with forever. So, God's Will is not always sweetness and light for his children while they are on this earth. God's sovereigny and power isn't dependent on us winning or losing. He is because He is.
