Since it is close to Halloween I thought I would post and let everyone know that Nestle Chocolate company who has a plant in China just had a recall on their product. Their chocolate had melamine in it. The same as the infant formula that killed all those babies in China. The information is on MSN again for those who don't know melamine is used as a filler for plastic and as it settles it hardens. Okay thought I would pass the information along

There was also melamine found in a candy called White Rabbit in Connecticut and California. That was on AOL news today. I'm not familiar with that candy, but maybe some people here are.

The White Rabbit candy is made in China, and sold in America mainly through ethnic Chinese grocers. I don't remember if it is actually approved for import, so it may come into this country through other than legal means. And IIRC, the Nestle candy was sold in Southeast Asia, not here.

Two varieties of Nestle's KitKat bars are being recalled in Australia and New Zealand due to fears that some bars may be contaminated with small plastic pieces. The voluntary recall affects KitKat Caramel and KitKat Cookie Dough, both 65-gram bars, with an expiry date of up to February 14, 2008. Nestle said that it thinks the plastic contamination occurred during the production process. The company did not specify if any injuries had been reported as a result of the contamination, however, Nestle did state the recall is precautionary. From Food-Business-Review.com as searched on google. I looked at Nestle's website and it did not show any recalls for the U.S. I googled, checked MSN, etc.

I had never heard of White Rabbit and wondered if it was just because they don't sell it here.
