The new season of Monk start up on July 18th...YAY!!!! Coming up pretty soon!!!

Anyway...I just wanted to put something I found about the new cast member. The man who played Dr Kroger died back in April, so they are having to replace that position (Monk's therapist) with someone else....well it seems one of my favorite actors is jumping in!!! Hector Elizondo will be the new therapist for Monk this coming season!!! I think he will be just perfect for that role.

Is he playing a new doctor, or will he still be Dr. Kroger and they just hope we don't notice?

I couldn't tell for sure which one it was from what they said...guess we will just have to wait and see.
ok..I asked my mom (who has memorized every monk episode for sure!!!) and did some more searching....this is what tv guide's web site says in part about the new therapist.....
a USA Network spokesperson confirms to me exclusively that Hector Elizondo has been tapped to join Monk as Tony Shalhoub's new shrink. There's no word on how his character will be introduced, but he'll first turn up in the show's seventh season premiere on July 18.
soooooo....going by that statement and the word "new", it will probably be a new character not just a recasting of Dr Kroger.

Thank you for that update! I really liked the guy who played Dr K. He did such a great job, and I will miss him. I usually hate when they replace characters because I usually don't like the new pick as well. I like THAT guy though. That makes me very happy! Thanks again for the update!

I just had a thought...

In the first episode of season 7 I think that someone is going to kill Kroger and Monk is going to try to pin it on Harold Krenshaw while trying to find a new therapist.

They should have gotten Alan Arbus who played Dr. Sidney Freeman on MASH.

I love Monk! My husband and I watch it as it comes out on DVD though, so we're a season behind. They are releasing Season 6 on July 8th, so that's the date we're looking foward to

I hope that they don't find the money in the stairs and it comes out when the banester wiggles or something like that. I will be disappointed if that happens.

Whew! I am glad that it wasn't THAT predictable. I should know by now that it wouldn't be disappointing.

I liked it, but that shrink was kind of strange. This should be interesting...

It wasn't bad.

I thought Monk was moving to one of the broadcast channels.

Did I dream this?

I didn't watch it.

But NBC is showing it on Sundays.. USA/NBC have a deal where they show some shows first on the usa network and then on NBC on their slow nights.. Law and Order: Criminal Intent is the same way.

yeah they did that with Phych too but didn't generate the audience they were hoping to, so they canceled it after a few episodes on NBC

I thought it was so funny when he was trying to explain the concept of a VHS!

I'm a huge Monk fan, waiting on the new ones....again. I don't think they show enough new episodes. I love Psych too.
