My wonderful DH and I have been married 5.5 years. He is currently deployed to Iraq, so I decided to take inventory and straighten out his dresser drawers, plus the drawers in the closet. (With his blessing and permission, mind you.)

He has socks in 4 different drawers. He has over 80 pairs of socks. Most of his socks are black (work) or white (non-work), with a very few pair of other colors.

Ummm.... is this normal? Socks in 4 different drawers? Over 80 pairs? Or am I just married to a guy who loves his socks?

I have all my socks in one drawer - athletic, work, and dress socks.

I throw old or unused socks away every so often because it's the only place I have to put socks.

My wife buys my socks. I might have 20 pair of athletic socks and one or two pair of dress socks.

I have no idea how many pair of socks I have - although they're all in specific baskets it my closet. 80 pair? probably not. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's 50. Most of mine are casual, or dress socks.

Sometimes I buy my own socks, sometimes my wife buys me some (both of us need to see them on clearance to do so!), and sometimes I get them as gifts. I guess I just don't ever throw them away until they're worn out.

I'd say that if it's not a problem, and your husband is a good guy and loves & cares for you, this probably isn't a big deal.

I have 3 pairs of socks. I never wear one of them, 'cause they're dress socks.
But, every guy (and every gal, for that matter) has their own quirks. I had a Prof. at my previous college who wore a different cartoon-themed tie to class every day of the year.

I've never counted how many pairs of socks I have, but it's hard to find cool socks for men. While in San Jose, where I figured I could get cool (read: fun) socks for sure, I was told that I'd have to go up to San Francisco for fun men's socks. Right. I did find some at a kiosk in the San Jose mall called "The Joy of Socks!" Great colors and fun patterns!

Socks are sort of a random add on, just popping up anywhere with your clothes. Thus I usually just throw them in whatever drawer would be the easiest.

I don't know if it's normal since I don't know what other guys do with their socks.
I keep all of mine in one drawer so I don't have to search for what I want. I also have no idea how many pairs of socks I own. I do know that nearly all of them are white tube socks because nobody sees them underneath my boots. They're all exactly alike as well so I don't bother pairing them up, I just dump them in the drawer and the first two I pick always match. Those that aren't white tube socks are black, brown and navy blue dress socks for special occasions like funerals and..........uh.....well, funerals. Two pairs each. Those are in a different drawer and don't get worn often.

80 pair?

I think I might have 6 or 7 pair in various states of holiness.

Maybe he is prepared for the sock monster in the washer/drier to eat them?

do people buy him socks as gifts? did he used to buy socks instead of doing laundary before you two were married? with 80 pairs, i'm sure socks could last for a long time. sometimes if i'm not paying attention when putting clothes away, i'll put some in the wrong drawar but four, lol. if he loved socks, i think he'd go for more than plain black and white.

Well, I suppose if you have 80 pairs of socks, then you might need 4 different drawers.

I don't think I have quite that many, but it's probably not far off and includes short and longer athletic socks, winter/wool socks, and casual/dress socks. I'm kind of picky about my feet - I have to hunt through my athletic socks to find matching pairs - they stretch out based on the foot they're worn on, so I have to find a left and a right. I keep meaning to actually write it on the socks when I buy them, but I always forget. Fortunately, many of my dress socks come with a logo embroidered on opposite sides, so I always know which of those is which.

Really? I would've thought an infantry man would be inclined to travel light.

Hello Harvie

A collecter of socks? Now that's a new one on me. Sounds like some kind of harmless obsessive compulsive reaction to me. Maybe his parents were too poor to buy him socks when he was a kid. Sound's like the object of some intersting conversation.
