I will admit I don't follow politics too much but I haven't really met anyone who isn't voting by economic class and/or race.

well let me ask this, when was the last time the GOP won Michigan in a presidential election?
The democrats have a strong relationship with the blue collar folks which is not going to be easy to break as long as policies continue to shipped these jobs once done by americans overseas.

I can see why he might want to give up on Michigan and focus on other states, but my neighbors are annoyed that he seemed to turn his back on our state. They feel like he's acting like he doesn't care (unless it'll benefit him). Some of my neighbors who had planned on voting for him have decided to stay home instead.

although i don't see obama getting to 270 if he doesn't win michigan, i can't see mccain reaching 270 without other battleground states. also some of these resources will be going to Maine where he could peel off an EV or two as they award by district.
