Okay, so my profile photo is from 2004 or some such year and I've aged and grown (cough, cough). I've tried and tried to upload my photo to my profile. I't says file too large yet the numbers are okay.

Can anyone help?

Here's a link to my photo

Yeah, that's weird. I have no idea except that sometimes CW has some strange goings on when it comes to uploading photos. It might be as simple as logging out and logging back in or waiting a couple of hours.

Now my profile picture loaded and stretched the picture really wide. I've shrunk the thumbnail to almost nothing and it says 'file too large'. ACK!

I changed my profile photo so y'all wouldn't think I was that wide!

I'd sure like to change my avatar photo so I don't imply I'm young and thin...... anymore.......

Greetings,

Have you tried saving the image as a .GIF?

You may want to resize the width only, and also check to see that it is 10KB or less. Even is the pixels are the right numbers, if it is more than 10KB, it will be too large.

Good luck

When resizing photos/images, you want to keep the width to height ratio the same. Most graphics editing programs will keep them proportional unless told otherwise. In the Gimp program, when I scale an image, it ties the width and height together so changing one automagically changes the other.

For example, I open a pic that is 616 pixels wide by 428 pixels tall and then select Scale Image. I then type in "150" for the new width and the Gimp automatically sets the height to 104 to keep the proportions the same.

To get the resulting file to the right size, I test saving it out with different compression ratios to get it under the size limit while retaining as much quality as I can because .jpg files use lossy compression (meaning, it will throw away detail to achieve smaller size).
