We just received word that Ben (our pastors son) has been diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He will remain in hospital in London for a minimum of one month and will receive aggressive chemotherapy for that time. These treatments will begin tonight or tomorrow morning. At the end of a month, doctors will determine further treatments to follow.
Why?
Here is a family that has dedicated thier lives to serving the Lord, why would this happen to such wonderful people?
I don't understand. He is only 15 years old. Everytime I look at my own healthy son I start to cry thinking about how one minute you can be sitting and joking a planning his future and the next you are in a hospital fighting for his life.

And anyone who is honest in the faith must admit the fact we see thorugh a mirror dimly. The last thing the family needs now are pat answers. They need the loving help of their body - and others throughout the world - to let them know they are being lifted to the throne of grace.

Exactly. There's no answer to the question of why, and we're not wise if we try to offer one. The only thing you can do is be there.

Things happen tapestry(and Ben's family and associates). "People[caught in 'hard' spots]are God's best visual aids to demonstrate who He really is. His power shows up best in weakness. And who by the world's standards is weaker than the [infirm] or physically disabled? As the world watches, these people persevere. They live, love, trust and obey Him. Eventually the world is forced to say, "How great their God must be to inspire this kind of loyalty."( Joni Eareckson Tada )

(Prayed and praying...

God will be glorified in it in some form and in some fashion.

Last year i was sick and because all of my friends and family are non-believers ( except 2) i knew nobody prayed for me. That was hard. It really helps when you know some people are praying for you...

At least the boy will have lots of prayers. Knowing the power of prayer it will certainly help.

I'm praying for them too.

Oh Tapestry, my heart goes out to you. Our puny little hearts and minds don't understand things like this. That's why we need a great big God Who is able. These are the times when we are challenged to love and trust Him all the more. And as Basilea Schlink said, "Everything He does is love whether I understand it or not" (my remembrance). So I offer you His love, Tapestry. Cling to Jesus. He walks through our pain with us. We are never alone. Let Him use this time to grow you and those you love ever closer to Him. My love and prayers for all who are involved in this, Liveloved

We all know there is no one answer to that question. Only God knows these things.

God does not wish that any should perish... or get ill. He didn't design it that way... the enemy did though.

Here is a true story that may help some:

There were two brothers who were pastors... One on the east coast and one on the west coast. The brother on the east coast died suddenly and the brother from the west coast was beside himself with all of the "why" questions. He didn't even want to pastor anymore.

On his trip to the east coast for the funeral, this brother had the opportunity to talk to and lead, several people on the plane to Christ. At the funeral, that he performed... there were many who gave their lives to the Lord. And on the trip back home, a couple more were saved to the Kingdom.

We were made to Glorify God. Sometimes it is through the trials that come to us.
I wish we had better answers for folks who ask "why"... sometimes we just have to trust that God truly is in control... and that can be tough at times.

Sorry about this young man... lets keep him in our prayers.

Thank you all for your kind words, prayer and support. It has helped me to read all your replys.
I have no updates at this time, but expect to hear more tomorrow at church and will pass it on to all who promised to join us in prayer for this young man.
Thanks again
