My second week of checking out the Current Events/Election 2008 folder and it is apparent to me that this is possibly the most vicious dialogue going on in all of CW. It's not the debate on facts and sincere opinions that bother me, but the accuasations against other people's character for their views, the lack of real dialogue (it's more often than not just drive-by flaming viewpoints), and lack of courtesy (the tone here is more vicious than any other folder in CW). And often there is not objective, nor sincere attempts to understand anothe side's viewpoints. I've never wanted to check thisi folder out, until a moderator MOVED my question from General Faith to here and this makes me never wnat to come back either. I was accused of lying in my thread about Palin's controversial church (twice implied): http://forums.crosswalk.com/Palin's_Controversial_Church_(As_Crazy_As_Obama's%3f)/m_3777848/mpage_2/tm.htm#3778328 when I never even heard of the Huffington Post. ...I'm not educated in politics and may not know as much, but I can tell when someone is being rude or talking down at me or making a quick unfounded/un-thought-out accuasation and it's not nice. I don't want to hold it against anyone, because mabye it was a miscommunication, I don't konw. Plus, I forgive you in my heart, because I know we are brothers/sisters in Christ. I just don't like the hostility that I see sometimes (even coming from myself when I get excited). I have enjoyed other forum folders/topic categories a lot more and will return to those for now. I really wish the love and courtesy seen in those other forums can be shown here. This forum folder crosses way too many lines and is bad for my spiritual health right now.

I may just go with you. The same thing happened to me. I cited something from a publication (what I thought was an Alaskan newspaper) and was attacked and basically called a liar (to his credit, the poster apologized). You made several good points in your OP. There appears to very little civil discourse or debate in this folder, rather a lot of name calling and personal attack. If a person didn't know that this was a Christian forum, he would find little evidence in this folder to support the proposition. God Bless.

Because in the end, this is not good for me. I have to account for what I say, and since I know I have NOTHING good to say about the current election on either side, I'm gone too. This is not what G-d would have me to do. It's been fun and funny but sin always is......

If you believe you have been attacked as per TOS 6 (or if you feel someone else has been), please use the Report link in the lower right corner of the questionable post. This will create a "ticket" that the moderators can look at. There is absolutely no shame in reporting a post. Some people don't like to report posts, thinking they're tattling or going to get someone banned or something. But if there's a post with a TOS question, this is exactly the avenue to get the mods' attention to it. Never be hesitant to report a post. You'll stay anonymous to the person you reported, and since mods can't be everywhere and can't read every single post in the forums, this is the best way to alert them so that they can determine if there's a violation or not. If it isn't a violation, then at least you'll have let the mods make the determination. Thanks! Closing this thread so that it doesn't become a venue in which to air grievances (see TOS 17). Thanks!
