The Lord upholds us in the most difficult and trying situations and concerning this I have no doubt. The Lord's grace has proven sufficient for my husband and myself this past year whilst in the midst a very difficult and sad situation.

Has anyone come across people who cannot understand how you can stay strong in the midst of adversity and trials and who seem to think that you must be 'in denial' when you still hold things together (as they see things) despite sharing about God's grace upholding you?

I'll answer your question another way.

I always admire people who, whilst going through the most difficult time, can still hold on to their Faith and Trust in God.

I have seen many such people whilst visiting in hospital. One particular case is an elderly gentleman who's undergone many operations and is in constant pain. When I ask him if the pain is any less he always replies: I'm doing OK. God's been good to me - there are so many so much worse off than me.

Another case is an elderly lady in her 80s. Can hardly walk because of her pain. When I tried to help her she said: No, I'm OK. I will not be a prisoner within my own body. God is helping me and I can still walk.

I've had many difficult times in my life; and when I look back, God has always been there helping me. Even though I didn't feel it or notice it at the time.

I pray that He'll never send me more trials and adversity than I can handle.

Actually, no. Nobody has ever come up to me or anybody related to me about how we could stay strong in the midst tragedy. They didn't really seem to care how we were holding up. It was only after that initially painful time that some of us were able to tell people in our church of how things were because we were lead to share in testimony how God kept us strong, and that it was because of His grace that we were able to get through that time to encourage others who may be going through trying times themselves.

Oh yea, and they are folks that do not understand faith, nor the promised provisions He has given to us.

Thanks

Well, that's a golden opportunity to share the 'hope borne of faith in Christ'. I was asked what was the 'secret' of my 'sanity' in the 'dark days' of my 'situation'. I responded 'good care, prayer of Saints, His Providence and luck'. I would add also a proper respect for both the saints obedience and His Victory didn't hurt either.

I think many times their response is borne out of the fact that the person IS in denial. That is why it is so wonderful that people can see in you, L1, the real life of Jesus overflowing and filling the emptiness around them. And, no, they CANNOT understand the real thing because it must be spiritually discerned and they are not equipped (without the Holy Spirit). But they see something and know that it is something they don't have and don't understand and, with prayer, may desire to know more. Bless ya!

No I haven't. But folks don't understand about Christ so of course they say you are in denial. Don't let it get to you, you are a witness to them. One day they'll see it.

My younger sister last year went through the death of her daughter as a strong icon. Many members of her new church questioned her on this very thing with statements, "I don't know how you stay so strong?" followed by the doubting questions, she simple looked at these folks and exclaimed, "Do not think this is me. Like the story of footprints: It is He that is carrying me!"

A man I know lost his only child, a 10-year old girl, in a stable accident. Afterward, he said it was far harder to cope with the little irritations of everyday life, since God's grace was lavished abundantly upon him for this terrible trial.

Interesting ...

God's not finished His work of grace in this man's life but it goes to show that if God can give grace to deal with the major trials which life sometimes throws up. If God can provide grace for the major trials and difficulties, then He must be able to provide for the lesser trials also. Sometimes it's the lesser irritations which we don't take to God in prayer and we fail to cast such on God thinking we can deal with them ourselves.

Grace is a perspective of faith.(the ability to see God working in your life) When we joined the rest of the branches on the vine, the father started his molding of our characters, meaning pruning, which WILL produce fruit or more fruit. But in either case we are being fashioned into looking like Jesus, acting, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, praying and really most of all loving, the father and the son, as well as the world. Pruning when done right will change the look or characteristic of that which is pruned. We are reminded that we must continue to keep moving forward in faith to enter the kingdom of God through many tribulations. Perspective trial and tribulations( Pruning process).
