I would like to know you thoughts about the following:

Do you think we engage with are community?

Can you tell me someting your local church has done in the last four months to help the community?

Dose your local church engage with the community?

Do you think Hope 2008 has been a sucess?

I can't say I know what Hope 2008 is. Our church supports an inner-city outreach, but we have more impact on our community by demonstrating a heavenly vision of community -- people from a full spectrum of ethnic backgrounds worshiping together around the Throne.

Ditto on Hope 2008, but...

My church is small, but we are intentional about our role in our mission field-- our community. We actively seek out ways to be involved. On July 4, we took turns manning the information booth at a community festival, we seek ways to outreach through lawn maintenance or other acts of service in our neighborhoods. We seek out people in our sphere to show the love of Jesus to in any way we can. I'm actually blown away regularly by the ideas that our community members come up with to serve and impact others.

I've only been in the church I attend for a couple of weeks, but I do know that they have a monthly food distribution program the benefits people in the community who can't afford the high price of food. I'm sure they have other ways of engaging in the community as well, but I just don't know about them yet.

As for Hope 2008, it must not be a success, because I've never heard of it. Not that my hearing of it is necessarily a criteria for success.

Do you think we engage with are community?

Our church (albeit a plant at this point) is in process of doing this. We engage our own community and are reaching out to the local community.

We have replaced roofs, given food boxes and mowed grass within our local community.

Can you tell me someting your local church has done in the last four months to help the community?

We are actually having a cookout this weekend and have personally walked around to invite our entire neighborhood to get to know them, and to find out how we can best serve them. It's so hard to know what to do when you don't know the people involved.

Dose your local church engage with the community?

Attempts are made...but it's more about their agenda and checking an item off a to-do list than truly engaging the community. Water bottles were handed out at last local event with church logo on them for marketing purposes, VBS are publicly opened, etc. I'm not sure the local churches here really understand what it means to engage their community.

Do you think Hope 2008 has been a sucess?

From what I can tell from the website, it takes place in the UK. So perhaps one of the many people posting from the UK can respond better.
