I'd prefer this to be in the women's folder, even though it's a health issue.

Has anyone ever had a breast biopsy? What type did you have, core needle biopsy or fine-needle aspiration? How much did it hurt? I'll be having one some time soon, (or not so soon, since I live in Canada)

I've had one, yes. I believe it was a core needle, but it all happened so fast I was in a blur and don't remember what the dr said. Mine was inconclusive, so I opted for surgical removal of the mass. The surgery went fine, but I was very nervous for it.

It didn't hurt much at all. It felt about as much as an IV or getting a shot with a large guage needle.

If you're really interested, I can link you to my blog where I talked about it some.

I had a fine needle aspiration in 2006. I've had blood tests that have been more painful!

OK. It's been a month.

I looked in my blog and realized I didn't really blog on the science (which is strange for me), but on my experience. However, here's the link to my experience.

FYI: Eric is my ex-H. I think that's all the background info you need.

Oh ... I was 25 when this happened. but I have a lot of family history of fibrous cysts.

There are a couple other posts around that one that are talking about my experience, but not much more really.

No, I didn't have a biopsy yet. My doctor wants me to have another ultrasound in February, and then they will decide about whether I need a biopsy or not. That's a long time to wait and wonder, but I'm not thinking about it too much, thankfully.

I had needle biopsy for breast cancer in February 2003. It doesn't hurt; it's a simple procedure which is done in the doctor's office. Waiting for the results was the hardest part.
I'm a breast cancer survivor which was five years in Aug 08.

Did the surgery remove all the cancer? Or did you undergo chemo/radiaton too?

Christine, is your blog about the biopsy, or the removal of the mass?

I found out this morning that I'll likely be having a biopsy, I don't know too much yet. It won't be at my local doctors office though. I'm waiting for the doctor to call me back.

It's my reflection on the surgery.
