All I could think about when Rudy was describing Obama's 'resume' (or lack thereof) and his 100+ "Present!" votes was I wonder how many Democrats are going to be so livid that they pop a cork tonight.

I hope they took an aspirin before watching the convention!

Since Mr. Obama has a better attendance reccord than Mr. McCain on the Senate floor, I don't see how they could be ready to "pop a cork" if they are aware of all the facts.

What about the look on Bob Schaeffer's face when Palin said she wasn't going to DC to make the press happy and the crowd started chanting "NBC" - they're a rowdy bunch. They boo'ed Guiliani the entire time he talked about Obama.

I want to say I'm sorry to my Democratic friends, I cringed also.

Forgive me.

You can't possibly be serious about this ignorant accusation. McCain, has been in the Senate since 1982, there's no WAY Obama has a better attendance. This argument is disingenuous and idiotic. I smell a straw man.

Don't understand completely what you mean here, but here are the FACTS (as in verifiable information from a third party, not electioneering talking points).

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/110/senate/vote-missers/

As you can see, so far in this Congress Mr. McCain is top of the list with missed votes. Mr. Obama is not very far behind, but long and short, voting record is not really a "position of strength" for the Republican offensive at this time.

As to career attendance, we can look at the 109th congress and see that again, Mr. McCain tops Mr. Obama in missed votes

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/109/senate/vote-missers/

And the 108th:

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/108/senate/vote-missers/

As we can see, Mr. Obama has not made this list (top votes missed) until this year when he began his campaign for president.

Long and short-vote attendance is a weak argument to begin with because vote OUTCOME is the real issue-Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama were there I'm sure for those votes which mattered a lot to them. THAT more than anything is what should be the focus.

Making specious talking points that tickle one's ears are indicative of today's politics. If you feel that everything your party has to say to you is true without holding them accountable for the facts, well, all I can say there is good luck with that.

The comment Rudy made wasn't about attendence. I BELIEVE the charge that he could not make a decision had to do with his time in the Illinois legislature, not the U.S.

It was about not being able to make a clear decision by bailing and voting 'Present!'. So, it WAS OUTCOME that was being brought up.

YOU were the one that tried to make attendence in the U.S.senate during an election cycle the key criteria which was completely off track.

On MSNBC this morning (Morning Joe) this challenge to the media was front and center. The declaration being that it was counterproductive to pick on the media.

That may have been true in the past, when the old media had a stranglehold on information and their biases were nuanced. But, in more recent years old media has thrown caution to the wind and blatantly shown their biases.

One critical mistake the old media made was that they virtually declared the winning two party's candidates far too early in the primary process. This REALLY turned off voters in the bulk of the states that had primaries after the first few states. Most of the country's voters walked into their primary polls knowing that their vote didn't count and that it was because the media refused to allow those campaigns with whom they disagreed to get their message out. The media blatantly chose sides and their picks were a done deal after just a few primaries.

Once the old media THOUGHT it had weeded out conservatives, they then turned their attention to their favorite candidate that represented their left sympathies the best... Obama. Again, they completely ignored the obvious negative aspects of his past... his past drug use, his lack of experience, his ties to the Daley machine in Chicago and enthusiastically repeated the Democratic talking points.

But, unlike the old days, the new media was there to point out the now blatant and open bias. So, now IS the time face the old media head on. For, the old media finally overplayed their hand and outed themselves.

My apologies, quite obviously I demonstrated that I decided not to listen to the political rhetoric from Mr. Guiliani and I did not listen to his speech to get a distinction on the record that he was distorting. It was Mr. Obama's STATE senate record, not his federal record. OK, now on the same page with you and thank you for the update.

Now to the use of the "present" vote. The use of the "present" vote has been a political tool used by many politicians in many forms. It needn't indicate indecision as much as a political "impasse" being reached. Generally, a bloc of politicians in one party or another might vote in this manner to kill a piece of legislation that they cannot vote against, etc. Easy to seize upon as a sign of indecision because it is easily exploited-the average American will not look at the real circumstances surrounding the number and will instead be impressed by a raw talking point. Well worn tactic, used to great effect by both sides. Not necessarily an indication of truth since it leaves a lot of factors out of the equation so to speak. I'm not going to do the research, but I'd love to see Mr. McCain's "present" voting record. We see Mr. Obama using a similar tactic with his "Voted with Mr. Bush 90% of the time" talking point that he now ends every sentence with. Again, no closer to actual fact since there is a lot of the story that we are not getting.

Sarah Palin lost an opportunity to expound on her qualifications as potential commander in chief and instead just regurgitated the same old lame Obama-bashing rhetoric. She's an excellent speaker and presents herself well. It's a shame that she simply stirred up a new batch of "republicans can do no wrong" grape juice for the party faithful. I thought it particularly amusing by the fact that republicans are saying that executive experience is more important that senatorial experience which makes HER more experienced than McCain since he has NO executive experience.

I'm no longer surprised that those who profess to be Christians were excited about the personal attacks on Obama and the outright lies about his policies or record. I wonder what Jesus would have thought of the new republican messiah?

I didn't hear a personal attack on Obama last night. I did hear his record and experience being called into question, as well as his judgment (or lack thereof) on a number of issues, none of which qualify as a "personal attack"....

Republicans have not promoted or spoken in any way to imply a messiah. She does not preach like one nor does she have followers claiming her to be a "gift from God", nor does she claim to be what the world has been waiting for, I'm afraid you guys are stuck with that one (or should I say One).

Palin says America, George Bush presiding, is on a mission from God, but some claim that doesn't make her a messiah.

What DOES that make her? A prophet?

No, the next Vice President of the United States.

Your "republicans can do no wrong" remark is totally wrong. You obviously (or conveniently) missed it when she talked of taking on her own party in Alaska. At least be honest about your claims when you post. Your "democrats can do no wrong" mantra is getting old and tired.
