Let me first say that this poll/thread was not started to debate the topic. That is clearly meant for the One Stop Thread, and any debate here will not be allowed. So please respect the rules! Simply choose one answer, and post in a short a GENERALIZED sentence what you believe, if you wish. Do not reply to other's posts, because this will lead to debate. I hope this poll does not violate any rules. If it does, I apologize.

I created this poll for one reason. After much lurking around the Calvinism/Arminianism debates, and posting occasionally, I became very curious to how many of you fall into each category. So many members here post in the debates, so I wish to gather some numbers.

Here's where I stand. I am neither Calvinist or Arminianist. I do not believe we lack free-will, but I also do not believe our free-will controls God.

I do understand that the debate between Calvinism/Arminianism involves MUCH more than just free-will, and after much study on my part, I fall into the "In Between" category. So examine yourself closely, and choose which answer you feel represents you best.

p.s. If you do not fall into one the three categories above, do not choose one. Thanks!

Neither would have been a better choice.
You don't have to be one or the other.

How is "Neither" not "In Between?" Could you explain what neither means to you? Perhaps I will add it. I just fear the option of "neither" or "other" will force those who would be otherwise "In Between" to choose "neither" even though they are partly both. You see? A perfect example is myself. That's why I said if you do not fall into one of the categories, do not vote.

I took a Calvinist position for about 25 years ago, but gave it up a few years back because I no longer found it to be persuasive. But that does not mean I have become Arminian by default--I am not altogether convinced of that position either. I think that both answer theological questions, not biblical ones. That is, I don't believe they answer any question that the Scriptures pose to us, and I feel no pressing need to embrace either one of them. They both often seem to be irrelevant to the text.

I also do not understand "In Between". Except possibly for shades of grey regarding "total depravity", the distinctions between the Remonstrants Five Points and the Reformed responses to each one are clearly black and white. Predestined decree is either conditional or absolute, Atonement is either universal or limited, grace is either resistible or irresistible, preservation is either conditional or absolute. There are no "in-betweens".

I am fully convinced that Scripture supports all the Remonstrants' points and because I believe God's Word is true, I am an Arminian Christian.

I would say a "Semi-Pelagian Open Molinist" be in between?

Both Calvinist/Aminian have logical conclusions that dwell in obserdiry and herasy, we call them "extreem"
If you are eather Calvinist/Aminian, then you must take your theology to it's logical conclusion to be real.

If you don't like their logical conclusions, then disgard them and find the truth.

This is why I am niether, but what I mentioned above.

Hi!

I am closing this thread, because we have the one-stop thread HERE.

When there is a one-stop thread, all discussion on the topic must take place in that thread.

Thanks!
