Hi! I am very new to this chat room thing, and fairly new to single life. I married young (17) and stayed happily married for close to 40 years. I have been widowed for 2 years now, so yes, that makes me really close to "older". I have other single girl friends who have tried the E Harmony thing and meet lots of guys, but I have to admit, I'm not sure that approach appeals to me. I'd like some opinions from anyone who has tried it and what you think. Basically, I am content being single, but having been marrried for so long it seems a very natural state for me. I am purposed to experiencing the closeness of having the Lord as my husband if or until he leads otherwise, but some male companionship would be welcome. Anyone have advise on the E Harmony thing??

Thanks ames01. Your welcome to the boards is appreciated. I was beginning to feel pretty stupid for even giving this forum a try. Still not sure I am comfortable with it. But thanks anyway.

Aww, frog, I'm sorry that you feel that way. I think that a good portion of the posters who frequent this folder are women who are married with young children, so they may have seen the thread title about older single women and figured it wasn't something they could help with. I know it's discouraging to post a question/request for help and not get any answers, though. I'm nearing 30 and never married, so I may not be a whole lot of help to you in your specific situation. I did try e-Harmony five or six years ago, and it couldn't find any matches for me in my entire state. Ha ha, talk about having your worst fears confirmed. So, that was my experience, but it's probably not typical. Hopefully someone else a little more helpful than me will come along with some good insight for you. I'm glad you're here, and I hope we can make you feel a little more comfortable from now on.

Hey, Frog, welcome to the forum. Spend some time with us in the Singles folder. E had been discussed there a few times. And there's a few threads about online dating that's being discussed right now. If anything, there's a few widows and widowers that can journey with you.

Hi Frog4grace, I'm in my early 40's and never married. I lurk in the forums from time to time and post on occasion (not much here). Just a note to say you're not alone! Definitely try the Singles folder - it is diverse in ages and background. I would not discourage anyone from trying eHarmony. If you're ready to meet someone by all means try it! I have not had much success with it, but I know others that have met their mates this way (through eHarmony). Hope it goes well for you.
