Hi everyone; i've got an interesting scenario that i would like to discuss: A while back I began searching for the truth about God and the unseen. I was raised catholic, but never really got interested in that religion or its churches. After looking through various sources a friend helped me get back into the Christian faith (when i focused on learning about God and reading the Bible things started to seem a lot clearer than before when I would just sit through monotonous mass and not really even be thinking about God much because of how much it bored me. Finding out about Jesus has really been great, and it is so reassuring to know just how much God loves us) Anyway, I have a bit of a dilemma: i think i should take some sort of action to destroy some stuff that sort of relates to spiritism (if anyone is unfamiliar with that term, it is sort of like religion without acknowledging God).. I bought some items online when I was checking out stuff relating to chakras and ended up buying some shirts (with chakra symbols on them) and also a "planetary chakra necklace" and a metallic/magnetic bracelet that had some good traits/qualities for people to have (for example, the word "wisdom") inscribed on it in fancy writing. I noticed some weird stuff happening after I got those items, and also I had been on some websites that had somewhat wild versions of reality as their accepted theology. I won't go into detail about everything that happened, but it was pretty bizarre. The phrase "unclean spirit" is used in the Bible that i think is synonymous with demons, and i think there is some type of link between unclean spirits and the items. The night that i received one of the packages (i got 2 packages, 1 with clothes and 1 with jewelry) i saw a red flashing/moving light type thing in my room (i do not have any electronic devices that would have done that). That was very minor in comparison to some of the other stuff that I have noticed. I don't want to just throw this stuff away, I feel that it is probably best for these things to be destroyed (completely). Destroying the clothes shouldn't be hard, but I'm not sure what i should do about the jewelery just yet. I'm not exactly sure what is going on with these objects, but i would like to find out what the best course of action is before i act. Anyway, I want to get rid of these items, but I'm not really sure specifically what action i should take. I will try to pray about it more. I want to make the best choice, and i would appreciate any/all advice on this. Keep in mind that I am not troubled or worried about it, but I really feel it is important to take action by completely destroying these things (clothes and jewelery). Thanks in advance!

When I first became Christian, I dumped some books with similar ideas right into the dumpster. I couldn't find it in me sell or donate books full of lies.

If you want to get rid of them because you feel like they are "unclean," so to speak, then you do NOT want to give them away or sell them. Your best bet is probably just throwing them in the dumpster, or burning them if you feel like you need to go that far. Throwing them in the dumpster is probably the easiest thing, though.

The trapping of our former lives and symbolism imbued can free and make a statement to others about your new found resolve to obedience. Certainly, primarily you are severing 'ties to unclean spirits' to start your journey of faith, sacrifice and obedience and perhaps you didn't really feel a kinship, only the trappings, however rejection of the 'old' can signal to the body of faith your resolve.

ok, let me clarify a bit more (i'll edit my original post as well). Unclean spirits are a word used in the Bible that i think is synonymous with demons. The night that i received one of the packages (i got 2 packages, 1 with clothes and 1 with jewelry) i saw a red flashing/moving light type thing in my room (i do not have any electronic devices that would have done that). That was very minor in comparison to some of the other stuff that I have noticed. I totally understand. I used to be into the same kind of stuff. I had pentagram rings\necklaces, shrine tables, statues, ect. that I did'nt know what to do with because they were made out of silver. Unfortunately, I gave them to my aunt who also was (and still is) into witchcraft. I just thought these things were bad for me, and I did'nt know that these things were harmful to anybody who possesed them. The stuff you handled was'nt as bad as stuff I have seen in other people's houses. Just a bracelet with the word "wealth" carved into a bead on it is'nt going to make demons appear in your room at night. Not to be offensive, but I don't really see why what you are dealing with requires such dramatic measures. It's not like you made a shrine to Skatha under your bed.

If he feels drastic measures are called for, support him in that. You do not know the details of why that may be necessary. I agree that you do not want to sell or give this stuff away. Stuff like the clothing can be burned. The jewlery can be smashed with a hammer. You did not say if the jewlery has diamonds or other hard crystals in it. Quartz crystals are popular with that crowd and are close to diamonds in hardness. A big hammer and a steel plate may still do the trick though.

the best thing to do is have a witness with you someone who will hold you accountable for destroying such things, because you have to totally destroy them, either smash them or burn them, remember in the bible, people had burned the things that were not of God, they destroyed them, and when they counted all of the things up, they realized that they had wasted so much time and money on things that did not bring them any joy.............

Go ahead and destroy the items if they bother you but be careful of going so far as to destroy items of yours that bother others. There are waves of ideas that periodically sweep through Christianity (some denominations much more so than others) where leaders command their sheep to destroy things that are not inherently evil or corrupting.

Thank you for the advice guys. The necklace has 9 gemstones (probably quartz as you said or some other type of cheap gem) in a metal frame (probably easily destroyed with a hammer and plate, great idea! thank you.) and also has some type of leather or dense cloth cord. So what should i do about the cord? Also, the 9 gems actually are kind of in the shape of a cross I think (haven't really looked at it lately). For those that did not understand why I wanted to take drastic measures to destroy this stuff: I did not explain why I feel it is necessary, and if you re-read my 2nd post (post #5) you will get a little hint of why. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but this scenario does not seem very normal at all.

well if it is not a problem to burn the clothing then why not also burn the jewelry. You can smash the gems and just throw the rest in fire with clothing.

If the fire melts the metal then it may get stuck on something (i'm not sure what would happen to the magnet(s) inside the bracelet) and i will have more stuff to dispose of. Heating it in the fire may make it more brittle though. Thank you for the idea :)

I would probably render it unwearable and then toss the remains into a deep part of the nearest large body of water, if you want to be thorough. *shrug* What a magnet will do in fire depends on what the magnet is made of... ceramic won't do a whole lot, metal can melt, though I doubt you're going to reach the kind of temperatures that will melt metal without some... creativity. Heating a magnet will demagnetize it though (temperature again depends on the type of magnet). Hammering on it can also destroy the magnetism.

Do you remember in the book of Acts 19:19 when Paul preached in Ephesus and people brought out the books on magic and burned them? It's b/c there ARE demons and unclean spirits connected to them, just as there is to the stuff you have. You need to get rid of that stuff ASAP. I would just toss the jewelry away. When I got saved, I threw away all my new aged unicorn and Dungeons and Dragons junk. But if you feel you must burn them, then do so. The Holy Spirit is showing you something, you need to act on it. As for the blinking/ moving red light? It could be something evil in your room. I don't know. If you're noticing funky wierd stuff going on, then it could be the demons and you don't want to open the door to them. But get rid of the junk tonight. Don't wait. And remember, Jesus gave us authority over demons, so they can't hurt you, but they can make your life difficult. :) kim quote:

Ummm... if I have something, and it bothers you, I should be careful about destroying it, whether or not it bothers me to own it? What does that mean? That I could ruin my discovery that I actually liked bothering you with it? Those leaders sheep, do they do a good job destroying things, or a baaaaahhhhddd job? I've never heard of this form of ministry before. You have lots of references of this? What about freezing that jewelry and then hitting it? Or putting it under your front car tires and then pulling forward on it and rotating the tires back and forth on it while in park? Get that grinding motion going. You could take stubborn stuff to a car repair shop, or somewhere welding is done, and explain you'd like to heat something beyond recognition and see what happens. You'd then have a molten mass of stuff that you could say, here's what I thought of my religion before Christ. If the mystery red light wasn't related to car brake lights through a venetian blind, maybe you've got some wonderful friends out there with a laser pointer trying to freak you out. Those can be made to blink, too. Just a thought. Best wishes with destruction of the old! OneJohn410
