(And before you ask--I *do* have a hand doctor due to recurrent DeQuervain's in the other hand, but he is very sick right now) Left hand. I think I was passing something from that hand to my right hand, and it felt like a bee stung me--couldn't tell if it was the ring or middle finger. There was no bee or anything else--it just felt that way. The two fingers (ring and middle) hurt slightly the rest of the day, but when I was cooking supper some moveemnt I made with my thumb made it hurt more, so I took some ibuprofen before I went to bed and all seemed fine. Overnight both fingers swelled up and hurt like everything. I was barely able to get my wedding ring off, but once I did it seemed the swelling began to go down in both fingers (which I thought was weird--why would it affect the other finger if it were the ring?) Took more ibuprofen. Later in the day, both fingers felt fine, but I have figured out that if I press on something with either my first finger or my thimb, it causes the two affected fingers to react badly: feels like a bee is stinging them and they swell and hurt. Or bending the whole hand down (towards the wrist.) Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Since ibuprofen helps, I am assuming it is some kind of inflammation, but I have never had anything that felt like a bee sting before unless there was a bee attached to the pain.

Could be nerves misfiring. Sometimes if you are fighting an infection your nerves can get confused. if it happens often, you may want to tell a doctor.

It does feel nerve-y. I hope the doctor gets well soon (not just for me, either).

It sounds like a nerve problem to me... but, I took some clinical anatomy and was always presented with arm and hand problems that turned out to be due to some nerve injury/infection... So, I might be biased. :)

Have you felt for a cyst? I have those in my hands and sometimes they swell and get in the way of my ability to use my hands. They feel like they are hard to move and sometimes I will just drop things that are in them if it is a bad day. I have been having them removed, but for such little things, it is a big ordeal. They actually put you in a surgical suite and the whole works. After I did the second one, and they came back, I said forget it because it didn't seem worth it to keep going through all that for them to come back. Sometimes they can be tiny like a pebble, and big like a pea size (big for your hands at least)
