Asked by a third-grader what a vice president does, Republican candidate Sarah Palin responded that the vice president is the president's "team mate" but also "runs the Senate" and "can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes."
While aimed at a typical 8-year-old, Palin's explanations oversimplify the Constitution's definition of the duties of the vice president and don't match the office's traditional role in Senate activities.

Have you ever tried to answer that kind of question to satisfy an 8 year old? Of course she oversimplified it, duh!

Shall we call this over-simplification gate?
Give her a break, she is not skilled at dumbing things down.
No offence to the kids, but presenting age appropriate political material is reserved for studied professionals is it not?
Maybe Biden could have done the dumbing better.

Maybe she could have done like Biden did, and gone off ona a completely irrlevant lecture about the Unitary executive theory.

Or maybe she could have just ran the United States down, like Obama did when a grade school girl asked him a question.....

She's had four times on television to tell what the job of VP is, the first on CNBC (a month or so before she was chosen to be VP, so I'll let that one kind of go, even though she's in politics and should know), the second during the VP debate, the third in a Fox News interview, and never could describe what it is, instead she adds things like they're in charge of the Senate and "if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes"... it doesn't work that way and she's had 3 times to get it right, so the fourth time, should have been the ringer, but it wasn't. When you are up for any job, aren't you supposed to know what that job is about?... guess she's still trying to figure it out, bless her heart.

They usually disappear from sight until the next election when they are promised a meaningful role in the administration. Anybody remember Gore's contribution to Clinton's dynasty?

Yep. It seems that Longfingers doesn't know the role of the veep. Why make an issue out of her talking to third graders? Biden didn't get it right at the debate. Like I told FreddieD, at least Obama soinds eloquent when he says nothing.
