(This thread is for Christians who oppose Obama's ungodly policies and/or feel that his policies would be disastrous for our nation. I would ask that Obama supporters kindly not post here, but please feel free to start your own prayer thread if you feel so inclined.) This Tuesday we will have the opportunity to make our voices heard with our votes. But because it is ultimately God who sets up rulers, there is something more important we must do, and that is pray. I know many probably already are praying (I know I am). But we need to focus on that in these few remaining hours. I do believe we need to humbly pray specifically for the defeat of Obama and/or a McCain victory. (If you oppose Obama but can't support McCain, you can still pray for the former's defeat.) The primary reason, of course, being Obama's numerous ungodly policy stances, which have been addressed over and over here. (There are other legitimate concerns too, which also have been covered here repeatedly.) The prayer of Nehemiah in Nehemiah 1:5-11 is an excellent guide. We must humble ourselves before God and confess both our own sins and the nation's. (America as a nation is certainly guilty of many grievous sins.) We need to ask for the Lord's mercy. All the while keeping in mind that it's His will that must be done, and His plans may be different than what we think they should be. (Even that which seems to be against God can be used for His purposes.) Fasting might even be in order for those who are physically able. But when all is said and done, God will still be in control. No matter the outcome. -Robb

I'm with you! I have also asked my friends to prayer walk around their voting places. Start now - I have done this for the past two presidential elections. Valerie

Oh, I almost forgot... we should also pray that no matter the outcome of the Presidential race, we should also pray the Democrats do not get a 60-seat supermajority in the Senate. Otherwise there will be absolutely no balancing influence on legislation. -Robb

Instead of praying for the defeat of one candidate, why not pray that GOD will put into office whomever HE wants and that HIS people pray for God's guidance upon whomever is elected? Perhaps GOD will hear THAT prayer as a sign that HIS people are putting their trust in HIM and NOT in a secular government. THAT is MY prayer and that of my church.

It is entirely proper to pray for the defeat of a candidate who stands against God in so many areas. And in any event, you seem to have missed this portion of my post: quote:
