1 Sam 16:14 "Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him."

I have often wondered about this passage. I suffer on and off from what is termed "night terrors".

Not to be glib, but unless you're becoming angry to the point you're throwing sharp projectiles and friends and family, these two scenarios don't equate. That said, I would humbly urge you to petition our Lord for freedom from these terrors. In my past, the Lord has permitted disturbing dreams as a means to reveal hidden sin and to ultimately draw me closer to him.

I used to suffer horribly from the night terrors and sleep paralysis. I would've sworn there was something after me. It got so bad I wouldn't want to go to sleep, because I was so terrified. I was so jumpy the littlest thing would make jump, I mean I would be like a cat with its claws stuck in the ceiling. I finally figured it was Satan who was tormenting me. When I finally was drained of all my energy and couldn't take it anymore. I went into the bathroom one night, looked in the mirror prayed fervently to Jesus and commanded Satan to leave me alone in the name of Jesus Christ. I can't explain the relief that flooded me almost instantly. I got the first night of good sleep I had had in couple of weeks. That was 5yrs ago and I haven't suffered one night terror since.

That's wonderful to hear, Campbe! I'm delighted for your deliverance.

My husband keeps repeating to me, "It's a spiritual battle." I can't argue with that.

And isn't it funny how often important things happen in a bathroom? I got saved while taking a shower (got clean for the first time in my life).

I will often imagine when I take a shower that I'm cleansing myself like the Levites use to have do before entering the temple of God. My father on the other hand thinks showers cause heart attacks, since he had a real minor one taking while taking a shower several years ago. He hasn't taken one since. Obviously, showers are a good thing if a person can get saved while taking one. I am enlighten by your experience. Thanx for sharing/

Nightmares and paranoia? He was possessed with keeping his position.
